About Us
Katrina Woodward, MS, CCC-SLP, has been a clinical FEES specialist with Swallowing Diagnostics since May 2005. Prior to joining the SDX team, Katrina completed her Clinical Fellowship and FEES training at Hartford Hospital, later making the transition to work in subacute and long-term care facilities. Katrina currently performs FEES full-time in Eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, in addition to overseeing growth in these regions. Katrina also collaborates with our talented staff to develop SDX’s special projects, contract staffing work, and educational programming. Her primary clinical interests include dysphagia, geriatrics, and ethics. Along with being a competent and effective clinician, Katrina brings much energy and compassion to her work. Katrina is an active member of the CSHA Legislative Committee, and belongs to the Connecticut Alzheimer’s Association’s Hartford Memory Walk Committee. Cheryl Rowe, MA/CCC-SLP has over 25 years experience in acute hospital, subacute rehabilitation, long term care and home care settings. Prior to joining Swallowing Diagnostics in 2003 as a FEES specialist, she worked for many years performing Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and supervising staff and students working with adults with neurogenic communication disorders and dysphagia. She is a clinician that looks at the total picture when it comes to swallowing. Cheryl currently manages and provides FEES services along with Alicia in Middlesex, New Haven, Fairfield and Litchfield counties. She has done various presentations on FEES and assessment and managment of dysphagia throughout Connecticut and continues to mentor staff working in this area. Alicia Cox, MA/CCC-SLP joined Swallowing Diagnostics in January 2007. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Iona College in 2004 and her Master of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut in 2006. Ms. Cox’s primary areas of expertise include dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders in the geriatric population. Currently Alicia provides FEES services for Swallowing Diagnostics in Western Connecticut, as well as providing speech pathology services to several skilled nursing facilities in the Bristol area. She is known by her colleagues to be a very dedicated clinician who is also fun and a pleasure to be with.
Andrea Zingarella, MS, CCC-SLP was introduced to the SDX staffing team in 2009, specializing in homecare and outpatient facility assignments. She has successfully completed her FEES training, joining the team of FEES specialists in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. Prior to her work with SDX, Andrea was employed as a speech pathology traveler nationwide, working in Arizona, Texas, California, Alaska, and eventually returning to Connecticut. She has experience in acute care and in rehabilitation settings across the care continuum. A graduate of Northeastern University in Boston (2001) and Southern Connecticut State University (2003), Andrea brings her academic expertise and enthusiasm for life to her role a speech-language pathologist specializing in geriatrics. In her free time, she is a music buff and a very talented pianist, playing keyboard in a local band. A compassionate and well-spoken individual, Andrea is a welcome addition to the SDX staffing and FEES teams.
